What you need for WP 35: Approval of Design Plans and Specifications

This approval ensures the proper design of treatment facilities, such as composting, pelletizing, and alkaline stabilization. These facilities must be properly designed and operated to ensure continuous treatment of sludge and other residuals and allow for subsequent beneficial use of the final products generated.

You must apply for this approval if you propose to design and construct facilities for the purpose of treating residuals generated from commercial and municipal wastewater treatment facilities.

  3. Obtain a Transmittal Form and Number

    A unique Transmittal Number is needed for each application you submit to MassDEP.

  4. Look up the Permit Application Fee

    See page 5 of the fee schedule below. 

  5. Mail your Application and Fee Payment

    Submit your fee payment and a copy of your transmittal form to:

    Submit your complete application package to the Wastewater Permitting Program in the appropriate MassDEP Regional Office (see listing below).
