Becoming a Justice of the Peace

A Justice of the Peace is a judicial officer appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Executive Council.

Justices of the Peace have a number of duties. Many, though not all Justices of the Peace are tasked with performing marriages. Appointed by the Governor, a Justice of the Peace serves for a term of seven years.
