What you need   for Apply for WorkShare

Before you apply for a WorkShare plan, review the requirements to see if you are eligible and follow the steps to create a WorkShare plan.

How to apply   Apply for WorkShare

  1. Log in to your UI Online account.
  2. Click on "account maintenance" on the employer home page.
  3. Click "request WorkShare benefits."
  4. Click "search" and select "add WorkShare plan."
  5. Follow the onscreen prompts and click "submit" when you finish the application process.

  1. Reduce your employees' hours

    Once your plan begins, you must reduce your employees' hours according to your WorkShare plan. From this point on until the conclusion of your program, your employees must comply with the program each week.

  2. Log employees' paid hours

    Keep a precise log of your participating employees' paid hours for each week. If an employee works:

    • Fewer hours in a week than the hours listed on your plan, no benefits will be paid unless other paid leave is used
    • More hours in a week than the hours listed on your plan, no benefits will be paid

    Any discrepancy in hours must be reported to the WorkShare department.

Removing workers from your WorkShare plan

If a worker on your WorkShare plan leaves the company for any reason, you must call and notify the WorkShare department immediately.  

Changing or discontinuing your WorkShare plan

If you need to modify your existing WorkShare plan, please contact the WorkShare department. You can discontinue an approved WorkShare plan at any time.

DUA can revoke your approved WorkShare plan

The Department of Unemployment Assistance (DUA) can revoke an active WorkShare plan with good cause. Examples of good cause include:

  • Failure to comply with the assurances given in the plan
  • Unreasonable revision of the productivity standards for the affected department
  • Conduct or occurrences that are intended to defeat the purpose and effective operation of the plan
  • Violation of the criteria on which the plan was approved
