What you need   for Respond to a Failure to Appear Notice

The Office of Jury Commissioner (OJC) sends a Failure to Appear Notice by mail to anyone summoned for jury duty who doesn't appear at the courthouse on the day they're scheduled to serve. You'll need to explain why you didn't appear and either reschedule your service or provide evidence for why you should be disqualified, such as a doctor's letter.

Call and speak with one of the schedulers to resolve your notice by phone.  

  • In Massachusetts — (800) 843-5879
  • Outside of Massachusetts — (617) 338-6409

To resolve your notice by mail, fill out the postcard attached to your Failure to Appear Notice and send it to the address listed.

Once you serve jury duty or provide proof of disqualification, your Failure to Appear Notice is resolved.
