Remaining Work

Roadway work for the Route 18 Improvements Project in Weymouth is 94 percent complete, with four travel lanes open for a majority of the project’s limits.

The remaining work includes final paving and pavement marking operations on a segment of road from Shea Memorial Drive to Pond Street (Route 58). At this time, this segment of roadway currently has two lanes of travel open to allow crews to complete remaining work such as waterproofing and paving operations on the Route 18 Bridge over the MBTA Commuter Rail. Anticipated in late June, once the bridge work is completed, MassDOT will reopen this part of the roadway to four travel lanes.

The remaining off-road construction operations such as drainage basin installation, wetlands restoration, and plantings are anticipated to be completed by the end of this summer. Temporary lane closures may be required to facilitate any remaining off-road and punch-list items.

Traffic Information overview

MassDOT will maintain one lane of travel, in both directions, throughout construction.
