NOTICE FROM COMMISSIONER SAMANTHA L. AIGNER-TREWORGY
The Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) is working closely with the Department of Public Health and the Governor’s Reopening Board to ensure we can provide clear guidance and critical supports for programs so they are ready to re-open after the Emergency Order, currently extended through June 29th, is lifted.
As part of this effort, we are pausing all competitive grants, including the UPK grant, to ensure that all our funding is targeted to strategies that are responsive to the needs of the field. These needs are changing through the crisis - and will likely continue to change as programs prepare to re-open and meet the needs of families and communities.
As we learn more about the phased re-opening of businesses and the economy, and plan for the re-opening of early education and care programs, we will work to align EEC funds to the needs of the field.
Current grantees will receive further guidance from grant coordinators about renewal processes for grants.
Open competitive grants in process are currently suspended until further notice.
We will be in touch with further information as soon as a plan is in place and we have been able to evaluate each funding stream against the changing needs of the field through re-opening.
Please stay safe and healthy.
