Places of Worship are encouraged to hold services virtually or outdoors and to ensure that attendees who are not from the same immediate household are spaced at least 6 feet apart. When conducting services, places of worship must abide by the Places of Worship Safety Standards and Checklist.
Establish protocols for confirmed cases of COVID-19
- Do not attend services in person if you are experiencing symptoms or have been in contact with a positive case of COVID-19
- Notify local Health Department of any positive cases and for contact tracing
Increase hygiene and sanitation
- Clean and disinfect place of worship between services
- Ensure attendees and staff wash their hands or use alcohol based hand sanitizers
Promote social distancing and use of masks
- Clear signage to communicate social distancing guidelines
- Always enforce the use of masks or face coverings
- Promote ventilation for enclosed spaces and where possible open windows
Modify services to limit person-to-person contact
- Encourage congregants to bring their own worship materials
- Avoid shaking hands, hugging or kissing
