With funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under Section 320 of the Clean Water Act, MassBays provides small grants to nonprofit organizations, academic institutions, and municipalities for projects that advance progress toward the goals of our Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan. We seek proposals that will fill in gaps in knowledge about our assessment areas, demonstrate new approaches to monitoring or protecting near-shore habitats, or lay the groundwork for future restoration.
Visit the links below for a list and detailed reports of projects funded by MassBays through its Research and Planning Grant Program (2010 - 2015) and its successor, the Healthy Estuaries Grant Program (2016 - present).
The next round of grants is now available. See the 2020 Request for Responses below. Pre-proposals are due April 2.
NOTE: The coronavirus outbreak is causing many disruptions to all sectors. However we have not extended the deadline for the pre-proposal submission at this time. Because we provide longer-term grants spanning two field seasons, we hope to stay on schedule. A significant delay could force us to wait until next fiscal year to reopen the call for proposals.
The April 2 deadline is for the two-page pre-proposal. The pre-proposal does not require significant detail (ee Attachment D to the RFR).
