In 2011, MassDOT found that the McCarthy Overpass over McGrath Boulevard in Somerville had badly deteriorated. The McGrath Boulevard Development Project will replace the overpass with a boulevard at street level that will reconnect local neighborhoods, and improve cyclist and pedestrian movement.
