Boston — On Friday, April 6th, State Auditor Suzanne M. Bump spoke with participants of the annual Student Government Day at the Massachusetts State House. She highlighted the ways her office makes government work better for the residents of the Commonwealth and discussed her path to a career in public service.
After her remarks, she met with the Student Auditor Paul Conroy of Whitman and alternate Patrick Milewski of Hanson in her office. During their meeting, she presented the students with official citations acknowledging their participation in the program. Conroy and Milewski are both seniors at Whitman-Hanson Regional High School. Bump grew up in Whitman.
The Student Government Day program enables students from across the Commonwealth to serve in the roles of elected or appointed officials and to participate in the government process. Students have the opportunity to learn, first-hand, about state government and are able to voice their positions on important issues during simulated committee hearings and legislative sessions of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The Student Government Day program also provides students with the opportunity to exchange views with their peers on statewide issues.
