Boston — Today, State Auditor Suzanne M. Bump reappointed Dr. Meredith Rosenthal of Cambridge and Robert Birmingham of Tewksbury to the Oversight Council for the Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA). Rosenthal and Birmingham were sworn in by Bump during a virtual ceremony held earlier today. Both will serve five-year terms and will be eligible for reappointment.
Dr. Rosenthal is the C. Boyden Gray professor of health economics and policy at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She earned a Ph.D. in health policy from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Brown University. First appointed by Bump in 2015, Dr. Rosenthal will continue to serve as the Oversight Council's healthcare economist.
Birmingham currently serves as a data analyst manager for the Office of the State Auditor (OSA) and specializes in data architecture and big data modeling. Since joining the OSA in 2016, he has provided leading analytical and data support on numerous Medicaid audits and reports. He received both his master’s degree in public administration and bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
CHIA is an independent agency that serves as the Commonwealth’s primary resource for health care data and health care analytics to support policy development. The Oversight Council was established in 2016 and meets quarterly to guide CHIA's research, as well as manage the agency's budget.
