STOW — State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey, Holliston Fire Chief Michael R. Cassidy and Holliston Police Chief Matthew Stone announced the cause of the January 21, 2018 barn fire at 755 Concord Street in Holliston is accidental. The fire claimed over 40 animals and property damage is estimated at $500,000.

On Thursday, investigators were able to complete their fire scene examination after working with the Holliston Health Department to remove and bury the animal remains. They have determined that the fire was accidental most probably caused either by a heat lamp or a coil used to keep water from freezing. There is no evidence that the fire was intentionally set.

The fire was jointly investigated by the Holliston Fire and Police Departments and State Police assigned to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
