BELMONTBelmont acting Fire Chief Wayne Haley, Belmont Police Chief James MacIsaac and State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey are asking for the public’s help to solve an arson fire at McLean Hospital in Belmont on July 29, 2020. The fire occurred in the Administration Building at 115 Mill Street, shortly before 3 p.m. The building was occupied at the time, but fortunately, hospital security staff were able to extinguish the fire quickly.

At the bottom of this release are links to two photos of a person investigators wish to speak to in connection with this fire. Anyone who recognizes him, please call the Belmont Police Department at 617-993-2550 or the statewide Arson Hotline at 1-800-682-9229.

The Arson Hotline is part of the Arson Watch Reward Program, which provides rewards of UP TO $5,000 for information that helps to solve the case. It is funded by the property and casualty insurance underwriting companies of Massachusetts.

The fire was jointly investigated by the Belmont Fire and Police Departments and State Police assigned to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. The fire was intentionally-set.
