Who We Are

Mission

To provide individualized training, education, and empowerment to people who are legally blind, and advocate for inclusive policies across the Commonwealth, with the goal of life-long independence and full community participation

Vision

All residents of the Commonwealth who are legally blind are empowered to live a fulfilling and independent life, with opportunities to work and thrive

Programs and Services

Navigating the world of blindness and vision loss can be overwhelming and often involves lifestyle changes and emotional adjustment. Each consumer's case is highly individualized. Consumers should work with their counselor to develop a plan specifically designed for them. To obtain the contact information for a counselor, please call 1-800-392-6450 or email mcbinfo@mass.gov.

Housing

While MCB is dedicated to supporting residents who are legally blind, we do not provide housing services. However, we recognize the critical importance of housing stability and recommend reviewing the resources available through the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities.

MCB can issue a Certificate of Blindness for consumers needing proof of legal blindness for housing applications. Please note, we do not have the authority to place consumers on housing waitlists, as all housing decisions are made by the respective housing authorities.
