2020 Correction Officer I Examination

A new date for the written examination originally scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2020 has been announced.

This examination was administered over the course of a week (July 6 - July 10).

Candidates were received instructions via email regarding how to schedule their specific day and time to sit for the examination.

Key Dates for the Correction Officer I Examination

Application Opening Date: January 8, 2020
Application Deadline: March 10, 2020*
Notification of Examination Self-Scheduling Issued: July 1, 2020
Examination Dates: July 6, 2020 - July 10, 2020
Score Release Date: August 3, 2020
Employment/Experience (E/E) Last Day to Appeal: August 20, 2020
Eligible List Establishment Date: September 1, 2020

Written Examination Fee: $100
Eligibility: Entry-level, open to public
Location: Various Sites across the state

*There is an additional $50 fee for applications received after March 10, 2020. Applications will not be accepted after March 17, 2020.

How to Apply for 2020 Correction Officer I Examination

  1. Find the application for 2020 Correction Officer I examination.
  2. Read about the examination information and find out if you’re eligible to take the examination.

  3. Click Apply in the top right corner of the examination poster and follow the instructions to submit your application.
  4. Once you’ve successfully submitted your application, you’ll see a Click to Pay button. Click the button to pay for your examination. Be sure to pay for the correct examination.
  5. You’ll receive two confirmation emails when you’ve completed the process:

     an email confirming that your application has been received
     
    an email confirming that your payment has been received

Your application is not complete until you have received both confirmation emails. Once you receive the successful payment confirmation email, you may ignore the option to Submit Payment which may still be displayed in your account.

Notes

If you previously took the Correction Officer I examination and your name was placed on the list 7/1/18, your period of eligibility is expected to end on 7/1/20 and would need to apply for and take the April examination to remain eligible for another two years.
