About the Pharmacy Substance Use Disorder Program (PSUD)

Background

According to Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 112, section 24H, PSUD is a voluntary, non-disciplinary alternative to traditional disciplinary action for pharmacists, pharmacy interns and pharmacy technicians with substance use disorders.

PSUD is a 5 year program.

Consent Agreement for PSUD Participation (CAPP)

The CAPP is a legally-binding document that outlines your participation in PSUD.

Contract requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Toxicology screenings
  • Individual therapy
  • Self-help group participation
  • Monitored practice

Confidentiality

Participation in PSUD is strictly confidential.

PSUD participation outcomes

Upon successful completion of the PSUD program, we expect that you will:

  • Be able to safely return to pharmacy practice without restrictions
  • Be able to demonstrate sustained recovery
