Adaptive program schedule

See a list of the current adaptive and accessible programming offered in state parks.

Adaptive, accessible programming is offered seasonally by the Universal Access Program. Our calendar of events is published in May and December of each year. You can see a list of our upcoming programs, or see the schedule for the whole season below. If you would like to get on our mailing list to be notified of upcoming events and activities, please contact us.

Pre-registration and a current release form are required for all programs.

Indoor ice skating and games on ice

Lace up a pair of conventional skates or slide around the ice on your manual or power wheelchair. Ice sleds are also available to glide around—propel yourself with small hockey sticks or be pushed around the rink by a friend.

Activities on the ice include obstacle courses, a tower of blocks for building up and crashing down, races, colorful balls and pucks to shoot around, power chair games, and gently competitive hockey matches.

Ice sleds, skate walkers, helmets, ice grippers, and ice skates are available for use, free of charge.

Skaters will need to pre-register, meet our essential eligibility criteria for ice skating, and fill out a release form. Please come dressed warmly for the rink temperatures, which may be 20–40 degrees Fahrenheit.

A woman in an ice sled, a girl on skates, and a young boy are standing in a pile of colorful blocks. They are smiling at the camera. The girl is spreading a colorful spotted cape with her arms, and wearing a hat with ears and a plush tail.

Skaters will need to pre-register, meet our essential eligibility criteria for ice skating, and fill out a release form. Please come dressed warmly for the rink temperatures, which may be 20–40 degrees Fahrenheit.

Outdoor winter programs

Join us this winter for cross-country skiing, kicksledding, and snowshoeing on the groomed course at Leo J. Martin Ski Track in Weston, on Sundays January through March. Or enjoy the winter woods on Saturdays in January and February at Wendell State Forest with outdoor skating, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobile rides, as conditions permit.

The dates for our outdoor winter programs will be set by early December. Check back then, or contact us to get on our mailing list and receive our newsletter with program dates.

A group of people is standing in the snow in a forest. They are wearing warm winter clothing. Some of the people have grippers on their boots. One person is sitting in a sit ski with a push handle on the back of it. Another person is holding short ski poles and sitting in a kicksled. Everyone is smiling.
Try a kicksled, a sit ski, or snowshoes on the trails this winter!
