FIFTH MEMBER POSITION ON THE GREATER LAWRENCE SANITARY DISTRICT EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT BOARD
The Greater Lawrence Sanitary District Employees Retirement Board is seeking a Fifth Member. The Greater Lawrence Sanitary District's function is to provide safe, reliable treatment of wastewater to protect the environment and the facility serves five communities, Lawrence, Methuen, Andover, North Andover, and Salem, New Hampshire.
In accordance with Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 32, § 20(47/8A) (b), the Fifth Member shall NOT be an employee, retiree or official (elected or appointed) of the governmental unit and is chosen by the other four members of the Board. The Greater Lawrence Sanitary District Employees Retirement System is governed by the five-member Board which is charged with pension administration of its active and retired employee members. The Board meets on the last Wednesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in their North Andover office. Occasionally, additional meetings are required. Board Members are required to complete and submit certain disclosures and forms including an Annual Statement of Financial Interest to P.E.R.A.C. (first statement due 30 days after appointment) and attend conferences and/or training sessions to earn a required 18 educational credits during the three year term. The Board members are fiduciaries who are responsible for the investment and oversight of approximately 17.4 million dollars in pension assets. The day to day administration of GLSDERS is conducted by a part-time Retirement Administrator. The Fifth Member’s term runs from the date of appointment for a three year period.
