Supreme Judicial Court Further Pauses Jury Trials Until February 14, 2022
- The Supreme Judicial Court (SJC) today issued an order extending the current pause on all jury trials in Massachusetts state courthouses for an additional two weeks, until February 14, 2022. All courts otherwise remain open for in-person business, with a continued emphasis on conducting matters remotely whenever possible. Today’s order partially amends the existing order regarding court operations during the pandemic, which was issued by the SJC on July 1, 2021, and supersedes a prior amendment issued on December 31, 2021.

Trial Court to Rescind Trial Court Emergency Interim Order 22-1, effective Monday, January 31, 2022
- Effective Monday, January 31, 2022, the Trial Court will rescind Trial Court Emergency Interim Order 22-1: Interim Order Concerning Trial Court Operations given the ongoing reduction in positive case counts across the state and based on consultation with court leaders. Operations within the seven court departments, including remote hearings, will be controlled by the departmental standing orders concerning court operations. The mask requirement and use of health screening questions remain in effect.
