Bridge Academy Training

Training as required by the Municipal Police Training Committee

The MPTC Bridge Academy will consist of approximately eighty (80) hours of online curriculum, four (4) examinations on the course material, forty (40) hours of in-person firearms training, forty (40) hours of in-person defensive tactics training and forty (40) hours of in-person emergency vehicle operator course.  The total program is approximately two-hundred (200) hours.  All testing will be proctored at an MPTC testing site.

The Bridge Academy will begin on October 1, 2021 and run through June 30, 2024

Last Names beginning with A-H          certification expires July 1, 2022  - Log in to Acadis and register to "Bridge Academy - Bridge Academy A-H"

  • Enrollment for the Bridge Academy, for those with the last name beginning with the letters A-H, is open in ACADIS.  Due to the time constraints, this year only, we are allowing access to the online eighty (80) hours of curriculum with just proof of a scheduled medical exam so people can get started right away. The entire Bridge Academy Training Program (80 hours of online curriculum, four proctored exams, 40 hours of defensive tactics training, 40 hours of emergency vehicle operator course, and 40 hours of firearms training) must be completed on or before June 30, 2022, for individuals with last names beginning with the letters A-H.

Last Names beginning with I-P             certification expires July 1, 2023

Last Names beginning with Q-Z           certification expires July 1, 2024

Bridge Academy Skills Pre-requisites

To be eligible for enrollment in Bridge Academy Skills training you must:

  1. Be enrolled in the Bridge Academy A-H
  2. Have completed all enrollment pre-requisites including the proper Student Officer Waiver, Release and Indemnification form, proof of current medical insurance and the HRD medical exam forms pages 1 and 8 indicating a passed exam. 
  3. Have completed the online pre-requisite course:
    • For EVOC: EVOC Classroom
    • For Defensive Tactics: Use of Force
    • For Firearms: Use of Force and Handgun Classroom

Upon pre-registration, if you meet these requirements, you will hear from us within a couple of working days confirming your enrollment. If you do not meet these requirements, we will let you know the deficiencies you need to address before you can be enrolled.
