Project Details

DUA Brockton

Designer: Jones Architect
Project Type:  CM at Risk
Contractor: Bond Brothers
Estimated Total Project Cost: $28,100,000
Gross Square Feet: 35,484
Substantial Completion Date: Summer 2022

DUA manages the Unemployment Insurance program, which provides temporary income to Massachusetts workers who are unemployed and looking for a job.

DUA’s program is comprised of two main elements. The first is a Call Center, whose operational needs requiring them to be located on one floor dictated much of the preliminary building layout.  The second is a Hearings Department, where cases are heard to resolve disputes involving both employee and employer, with legal representation present.  Administrative and meeting space will also be provided.

Massasoit Community College will be located on a portion of the first floor (separate entrance and signage) to instruct various college or continuing education courses.

In addition to providing a modern facility for a state agency, the new building will serve to energize this part of Main Street by bringing people and activity to a location with a number of business vacancies.

Project Features

  • CLT and steel hybrid construction
  • Daylight-adjusting illumination
  • Raised floors to accommodate flexibility in power distribution
  • White noise and sound-absorbent baffles in call center
