Electrical or Systems Business name Applications

The Board is no longer accepting paper applications

For Master Electrician and Systems Contractor business name removals, additions and partnership. (Including just dba names)

All applicants must submit an application through the Board’s e-Place Portal.  The link below will take you to our on-line portal where you will first be required to create a portal account or log in if you already have one.  To create an account select the link “Register for an Account” and follow the instructions for setting up your account. Then you will need to link your license(s) to your account and you need a Record ID and authorization code to do so. Please contact the Board office for that information.

Once your license(s) are linked you can go to the “Manage Licenses, Permits & Certificates” tab and select “Amendment” next to the Master or Systems contractor license. If your license is already associated with a business name you must file the removal before filing the addition to change the information on the license.

Important Points to be aware of and documents that must be uploaded at the end of your online application:

* * Be advised that LLCs, Partnerships or other business structures may submit a similar item in documentation that serves the same purpose but bears a different title e.g. “Operating agreement” in place of “articles of organization”.

Individual Master or Systems Contractor addition of Business

  1. Upload a Clerk’s certification filled out by the clerk of the corporation (LLC manager) showing the names and addresses of all officers/managers of the company. (Licensee must be an officer of the business or manager in LLC and listed as such on the Secretary of State’s site as one of the principally listed positions)
  2. Upload a copy of the corporation Articles of Organization Stamped by the Secretary of State’s office (in foreign corporations as well). 
  3. If a DBA name is also registered locally upload a copy of the DBA certificate.
  4. Upload a copy of a Foreign Certificate (if an out of State Corporation) as filed with the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  5. Upload a copy of a change in the corporation’s Corporate Officers as filed with the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts if a new licensee of record is being substituted in place of the previous qualifying officer.  (Stamped copy as being deposited with the Secretary of State’s Office)
  6. The Articles of Organization as filed with the Secretary of the Commonwealth shall state that the corporation is “incorporated to conduct or engage in the electrical contracting and installation work, including but not limited to Alarm Systems” (For Electrical Companies). Or “incorporated to conduct or engage in the Fire Warning and Security Systems installation work” (For strictly Alarm companies). If not, an amendment to the Articles of Organization shall be filed with Secretary of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and a copy shall accompany the original Articles of Organization. 
  7. The Master or Systems Contractor license card must be mailed in/surrendered to the Board office. If the license was lost you must submit a sworn affidavit to that effect.
  8. Limited Liability Corporation – Upload Proof of minimum insurance coverage ($50,000.00) or more multiplied by the number of individual licensees employed by or who are officers of the LLC or in aggregate of one-hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000.00) or more multiplied by the number of individual licensees employed by or who are officers of the LLC by deposit in trust or in bank escrow of cash, bank certificates of deposit, or United States Treasury obligations; or a bank letter of credit or insurance company bond.
  • An LLC or LLP must notify the Board within five (5) business days if its insurance coverage is cancelled or otherwise interrupted.

 

Master or Systems Contractor Partnership

  1. The Master or Systems Contractor license card must be mailed in/surrendered to the Board office. If the license was lost you must submit a sworn affidavit to that effect.
  2. Limited Liability Partnership -  Upload Proof of minimum insurance coverage ($50,000.00) or more multiplied by the number of individual licensees employed by or who are partners of the LLP or in aggregate of one-hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000.00) or more multiplied by the number of individual licensees employed by or who are partners of the LLP by deposit in trust or in bank escrow of cash, bank certificates of deposit, or United States Treasury obligations; or a bank letter of credit or insurance company bond.
  • An LLC or LLP must notify the Board within five (5) business days if its insurance coverage is cancelled or otherwise interrupted.

 

Individual Master or Systems Contractor removal of Business

  1. Upload a copy of the letter of resignation or termination notifying the Board as to the date the said licensee withdrew from the business.
  2. For a partnership the licensee of record of the partnership must send a letter with the application to the Board stating the date the partnership dissolved signed by all partners.
  3. If continuing as a DBA name that is registered locally, upload a copy of the DBA certificate.
  4. Upload a copy of the dissolution as stamped by the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts if the owner of the company.
  5. The Master or Systems Contractor license card must be mailed in/surrendered to the Board office. If the license was lost you must submit a sworn affidavit to that effect.

The Board meets every fourth Monday of the Month.  Applications must be submitted to the Board office at least two weeks prior to the Board meeting date.  Any applications not in compliance with the instructions stated, will not be presented for Board vote and will be held pending receipt of all proper documentation.
