Epidemiology Report: Acquired Brain Injury in Massachusetts

2014 Report

The Brain Injury Commission identified the need for current information regarding the epidemiology of acquired brain injury in Massachusetts. In response to recommendations made by the Brain Injury Commission, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, in collaboration with the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission, designed and completed a comprehensive epidemiological study of ABI in Massachusetts in fiscal years 2014-2015. The scope of this study was to determine the magnitude of the ABI population in Massachusetts, including affected age groups, their region of residence, as well as racial/ethnic distribution, for all major categories of acquired brain injury.
