The DOB implemented legislation designed to:
- Offer relief to existing homeowners
- Ensure the necessary legal and regulatory framework is in place to prevent the occurrence of the mortgage-related issues the Commonwealth has faced
- Address the subprime lending crisis and preventing future abuses in mortgage lending
- Ensure the standards that honest lenders already meet are followed by the entire lending industry
This legislation is a comprehensive effort to provide borrowers with the educational information they need before entering into a mortgage.
