Government Publications from Other Jurisdictions in the State Library

State documents from outside Massachusetts in the State Library's Collections

Overview

One of the primary roles when the State Library was established in 1826 was to collect government documents from other jurisdictions. Although the Library no longer collects these materials, we do have a large historic collection of governmental material published by other states, U.S. territories, Native American tribes, and Great Britain.

These materials include statutes, court reports, and agency annual reports, as well as other reports and material issued by these entities. This collection ranges from colonial-era documents through the 1970s and 1980s. Please consult the online catalog for specific holdings.
