Healthcare Interpreters Services

The Office of Health Equity, Health Care Interpreter Services Program, is seeking an intern to support its publication and evaluation activities

The intern is responsible for analysis, report writing, and updating of materials for publication. This unpaid intern position will provide valuable experience and skills development in the field of public health, data analyses and reporting in health settings.

Primary Tasks

  • Collect and review existing materials.
  • Develop literature review.
  • Analyze data from Health Care Interpreter Services annual surveys.
  • Communicate findings to staff.
  • Organize materials and complete writing assignments according to agreed upon standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Prepare and present summaries and analyses of survey data, including tables, graphs, and fact sheets that describe survey results.
  • Prepare reports of findings, illustrating data graphically and translating complex findings into written text.
  • Write and/or update materials.
  • Edit, reorganize and adapt reports upon staff revisions and comments.
  • Proofread materials for final copy.
  • Attend meetings as needed.


  • Writing: Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Analyzing Data or Information: Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
  • Processing Information: Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, or verifying information or data.

Preferred Candidate

  • Masters or Ph.D. candidate in Public Health or related field.
  • Competence in Windows and Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to prepare reports including the presentation of information in charts, graphs and tables
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instruction, to manage multiple tasks and time effectively, and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information
