DMH Policies

Sexual Assault Policy

This policy states that all employees experience a work environment free from all forms of discrimination, including sexual harassment. Sexual harassment undermines the integrity of the workplace and the personal dignity of the individual. It is not the Commonwealth's intent to regulate social interaction or relationships freely entered into by its employees, but rather to eliminate conduct that creates an abusive or hostile work environment.

Human Rights Policy

This policy establishes standards and procedures to ensure that the Department of Mental Health and its Programs and Facilities respect, support, and protect the fundamental human, civil, constitutional, and statutory rights of Clients.

LGBTQ Policy

This policy provides specific rules and guidelines to protect the rights of DMH employees and individuals served who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or questioning (LGBTQ).  The policy supports and furthers DMH’s efforts to-date to create an inclusive workplace and treatment environment for all.

DMH Non-Discrimination Notices

The Department of Mental Health (DMH) advises its employees and the public that it does not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of disability in employment or in access to DMH programs, services, and activities.  DMH has designated Joy Connell, DMH Diversity/Civil Rights Officer, to coordinate efforts to comply with the requirements of Executive Order 478, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the federal Rehabilitation Act and various other federal and state laws protecting the rights of people with disabilities. Questions about DMH’s non-discrimination policy or grievance procedures may be directed to the DMH Diversity/Civil Rights Officer at joy.connell@state.ma.us or (617) 626-8133.
