Massachusetts StrongStart will provide resources for educators and administrators to enhance quality in their programs, and support individual educator success.
Massachusetts StrongStart resources will include:
- Professional Development Centers that will provide training, technical assistance, career advising and coaching.
- Early Childhood Support Organizations that will provide targeted training and coaching to programs on higher quality standards.
- An Online Professional Development System that offers training, an educator registry, and a credentialing process.
StrongStart will also support educator core knowledge and competencies, and program improvement through interim changes to the MA Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) and the next generation of QRIS: StrongStart to Program Quality.
When will Massachusetts StrongStart resources be available?
The Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) will roll out StrongStart initiatives in phases, starting in Summer 2019.
Has StrongStart to Program Quality replaced the QRIS?
Not yet. StrongStart to Program Quality will go into effect at a later date. In the meantime, EEC is utilizing Interim Changes to the MA QRIS for measuring program quality. The Interim changes to the MA QRIS eliminated some requirements that were not clearly tied to quality or were duplicative in nature.
