OIG Academy Online Class Technical Specifications

The OIG Academy offers classes online. Your device and browser must meet certain minimum technical requirements.

Technical Assistance is available through the OIG help desk by emailing Ask-the-OIG-Instructor@mass.gov.

Please check our registration form and website for schedule updates.

Overview

We will present some classes as one, two, three or four-day webinars using Blackboard®, an online learning platform, or another virtual platform. We utilize a polling feature in Blackboard during webinars to track attendance and maintain educational integrity. We send Blackboard or other virtual platform login information to your email address two business days before a class starts.

Supplies and Services Contracting will be presented as a five-week self-paced class. Real Property Transactions Under M.G.L. c. 30B will be presented as a five-week self-paced class. Both the MCPPO Designation Renewal and Design and Construction Contracting classes will be presented as blended classes, meaning that they include both self-paced and live webinar segments. We sometimes offer these blended classes as multi-day live webinars.

Minimum Technical Requirements

If you are already registered or are planning to register for online classes, your computer or mobile device must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Operating System: Windows 8 or newer; Mac OS 10.6 or newer
  • Processor: 2 GHz or faster
  • RAM: 3 GB of RAM
  • Screen resolution: 1024 x 768 or higher
  • Internet connection: Broadband internet connection. Chrome, Firefox and Safari work best with Blackboard. Please make sure you have an updated browser and have pop-up functionality enabled.
  • Mobile/Tablet Devices: Completing tasks and assignments in Blackboard using a tablet or mobile device is not recommended as many Blackboard features will not work.
  • Screen Reader: When using a screen reader, use Chrome and JAWS on Windows. For Mac, use Safari and VoiceOver.

In addition, your computer or device will need audio output capabilities. A microphone or camera is optional. We encourage you to log into Blackboard after you receive your credentials to ensure that you do not have any audio, video or connection issues. Troubleshooting these issues on the day of a class could cause you to miss valuable class time.
