New Open Meeting Law Regulations, Effective October 6, 2017

To conclude a thorough and transparent regulatory review process, the Attorney General has issued new Open Meeting Law regulations, 940 CMR 29.00-29.11.  The changes will take effect on October 6, 2017, upon publication in the Massachusetts Register.

New regulations

The new regulations will streamline, modernize, and clarify Open Meeting Law (OML) compliance while simultaneously sustaining the law’s spirit of transparency.

Disclaimer: The final regulations are subject to formatting edits by the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s Regulations Division.  The final regulations will be published in their official form in the Massachusetts Register on October 6, 2017.

Updated Open Meeting Law documents and educational materials

The Attorney General’s Office has updated OML materials to reflect the regulatory changes. The materials linked below will replace the existing resources on the OML website on October 6, 2017.  Please continue to check the website for additional updated educational and training materials.
