Benefits of early intervention re-employment services
The decision to lay off employees is one no employer wants to make. However, as layoffs do occur, inviting the MassHire Rapid Response Team to meet with affected workers prior to the layoff allows employees to access services and programs that will help them through this difficult time.
Employees of businesses that engage in the MassHire Rapid Response team’s layoff management and outplacement services will be guided by workforce development professionals who have helped thousands of workers cope with job loss and job search activities.
By completing employee questionnaires distributed by the MassHire Rapid Response Team or the employer, workers affected by a business’ workforce reduction plan ensure that Rapid Response representatives can provide individualized assistance.
This enables MassHire Rapid Response representatives to support affected workers prior to the layoff and allow them to access services and programs designed to help them. These services include holding employee meetings to explain unemployment insurance procedures and other programs, share pre-layoff job leads and placements, give targeted job search workshops, and provide individualized assistance to troubleshoot challenges and answer questions. Affected workers are also referred to their local MassHire Career Center for ongoing support and services, including federally funded training opportunities.
The MassHire Rapid Response teams schedules meetings and workshops when it is convenient for employees. For example, the employee meeting may be held several times a day to accommodate different shifts and/or multiple times in a week or month to fit shorter schedules of part-time workers.
Union workers receive additional support from the Massachusetts AFL-CIO Rapid Response Team.
