RNG is a unique program that links federal rental assistance in the form of Section 8 Vouchers with support services designed for grandparents raising children in Boston's metropolitan area. The program is a collaborative effort between the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) and Nuestra Communidad, the agency providing supportive services.
Who is eligible:
Very low-income families with a head of household 50 years of age or older and who is the custodian responsible for a dependent under the age of 18. The family must be otherwise Section 8 eligible.
Nuestra Communidad refers eligible clients to the DHCD administering agency in its region when vouchers are available.
Up to 50 RNG subsidies are distributed by DHCD throughout the Boston metropolitan area. The Boston Housing Authority also administers a 50-unit RNG program.
