The Commonwealth is dedicated to ensure the safety of student athletes participating in extracurricular school sports.

Chapter 166 of the Acts of 2010, An Act Relative to Safety Regulations for School Athletes
Chapter 166 directs the Department of Public Health (DPH) to develop an interscholastic athletic head injury safety program. This was established in July 2010.

105 CMR 201: Head Injuries and Concussions in Extracurricular Athletic Activities (DOC)
DPH developed regulations, Head Injuries and Concussions in Extracurricular Activities 105 CMR 201 to implement this program which were passed in June 2011.
