Overnight Lane Closures on I-495 North & South July 15-18

MassDOT has announced overnight lane closures of two left lanes on I-495 North and South, Monday, July 15, through Thursday, July 18. The closures will occur each night from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning. They are necessary to allow the contractor to construct the roadway in the median to tie into the new northbound bridge.

Project Progress

The contractor is currently building the western half of the new northbound bridge. The substructure is complete and work is now focused on building the superstructure, which includes setting structural steel and forming the bridge deck. Work in the median is ongoing to tie-in the new bridge with the existing northbound roadway. Once the western half of the new bridge is complete, northbound traffic will be shifted onto it, and the existing northbound bridge will be demolished to make room for constructing the eastern half of the new northbound bridge.
