UMass - Medical School Master Plan

This project initiated in August 2018 with the Master Plan completion anticipated in June 2019.

This project is the development of a new Master Plan for the continued development of the main campus in Worcester, as well as examining the schools five other campuses: Maple Avenue and 333 South Street, Shrewsbury, Mass Biologics campuses in Mattapan and Fall River, plus the buildings comprising the Worcester Biotechnology Park.  The project requires the analysis of the school’s existing use of space, trends in medical education, as well as trends in the expansion of biomedical research, coupled with an examination of how these uses and their growth can be accommodated within the existing campus.  Anticipating that the growth will exceed the existing spaces available, how best can the school grow and utilize their existing real estate?
