Volunteer Services

Information on volunteering at Massachusetts prisons

Overview

There are currently approximately 1,500 volunteers providing a variety of services throughout all of our prisons. Volunteer services include faith-based, substance abuse, self help, support groups, literacy, cognitive skills and cultural awareness programming. Volunteer services enhance Department programming and the process of reintegration by disrupting the delinquency network and providing inmates with a network of pro-social community members and activities. These services are available at all facilities.
