Patient Navigator Hybrid Training Course
The Women’s Health Network (WHN) developed the Patient Navigator Hybrid Course to provide a formal training to patient navigators and community health workers who work in preventive health settings. The course consists of three mandatory in-person sessions and 11 online modules. The 11-module online portion of the course consists of core competency material (cultural competency, communication, organization, assessment, documentation, and service coordination) and condition-specific health content (including breast and cervical cancer).The course is offered each spring and fall. Annual Patient Navigator/Community Health Worker Conference
DPH offers an annual Community Health Worker/Patient Navigator Conference to provide professional development and networking opportunities, along with tools, resources, and practical skills building sessions for CHWs. The conference is designed for community health workers, patient navigators, CHW supervisors and those involved in developing CHW programs throughout the state and country. MDPH Office of Community Health Workers
DPH recognizes and values the unique contribution of CHWs to improving health outcomes among vulnerable populations, and continues to support CHWs through its programs and resources. In addition to its ongoing programmatic support, the Department has conducted a number of capacity-building initiatives to strengthen CHW workforce development. The DPH Office of Community Health Workers website includes information about CHW activities in Massachusetts and the certification process that is currently underway.
