More about:

Your baby was born at home

All babies have the opportunity to have their hearing screened.

Early identification of hearing loss and early enrollment into services leads to better language outcomes.  A hearing screening is performed with special equipment at a testing center or local hospital.  Babies need to be sleeping for the screening so it is recommended that the screening be performed within the first month of life.  Your midwife can answer questions about the hearing screening or you can email newborn.hearing@state.ma.us or call 800-882-1435.
