NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to M.G.L. c. 30A, §2, the Department of Correction will hold a public hearing on proposed amendments to the following regulation:
103 CMR 505: Use of Force
This hearing is being held in connection with proposed amendments to 103 CMR 505.00, which are necessary to bring the regulation into compliance with current standards and Department of Correction practice for uses of force related, but not limited to, use of instruments of restraint, use of K-9 units, use of firearms, and use of OC, Chemical Agents/Specialty Impact Munitions/Distraction Devices, Batons, and Electronic Control Devices. The proposed amendments also include updated requirements for training, medical treatment, and reporting, in connection with uses of force.
The public hearing on this regulation shall be held virtually at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 19, 2022.

All interested parties are encouraged to submit written comments relating to 103 CMR 505 to Michele Dupuis-Clarke, Program Coordinator III, Department of Correction, 70 Franklin Street, Suite 600, Boston, MA 02110. All comments submitted to the Department may be posted on the Department's website and released in response to a request for public records. All written testimony and comments must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on December 19, 2022, in order to be taken under advisement.
