Climate Pollution Reduction Grant

The Office of Climate Innovation and Resilience is partnering with the U.S. EPA on the Massachusetts Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) – a program for states, cities, tribes, and territories to plan how Massachusetts can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and maximize federal funding investment.

Working with municipalities, regional planning agencies, and other partners across Massachusetts, the Office of Climate Innovation and Resilience is using the CPRG process to address three priorities:

1. Analyze the benefits and costs of measures that reduce climate pollution in order to prioritize action to address climate pollution that delivers the greatest community benefits and most efficiently utilizes state and federal investment.
2. Plan to optimally match the full range of federal climate funding available under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act with the Commonwealth’s climate actions.
3. Deepen state government’s engagement with communities across the Commonwealth around climate investments.

Public Comment

UPDATE: The Climate Office, in concert with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, is sharing this straw proposal of the Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP) with the public to inform priorities for the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG). We invite members of the public, community organizations and municipalities to share their feedback on the PCAP. In particular, we invite entities to: 1. Review the draft greenhouse gas reduction measures and associated benefits for low-income and disadvantaged communities in the straw proposal. 2. By Thursday, February 15^th, share specific feedback you have for each measure by submitting a public comment in the form below. 

Please note: If you represent an entity eligible for the grant and you plan to apply, it is important to check this document to make sure your proposal will be covered by this PCAP. Please let us know if you would like changes to cover your proposal.

Partners

The Office of Climate Innovation and Resilience is pleased to partner with three Regional Planning Agencies in the Commonwealth, who also received EPA CPRG planning funding, including the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission, the Metropolitan Area Planning Council, and the Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District. We are collaborating to align climate priorities for the states, engage Massachusetts communities, and to maximize our opportunities for federal funding.
