Chockalog Swamp WMA

Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) are open to the public for fishing, hunting, trapping, hiking, and wildlife viewing.

Description

This area is comprised of a large cedar swamp and wetlands habitat.

Location, access, & parking

This is a landlocked piece of property without any parking areas. See WMA map.

Note: WMAs are intentionally wild, visitors will find natural landscapes rather than maintained trails.

Wildlife viewing & other features

This WMA contains an Inland Atlantic white cedar swamp, an uncommon type of natural community. Immediately adjacent to Chockalog Pond, but mostly off the WMA, is a level bog, another uncommon natural community.

MassWildlife owns and manages over 220,000 acres of land to conserve fish and wildlife habitats and provide access for outdoor recreation. All WMAs are open to hunting, fishing, trapping, and other outdoor recreation activities.
