Description
Most of the area is forested with a mixture of northern hardwoods including beech, maple, birch, and black cherry. White pine stands are also scattered throughout the property. The area consists of steep slopes rising from less than 1000 feet to higher than 1400 feet.
Location, access, & parking
Parking access is located on a pull-off on Route 9 and a pull-off on Stage Road. See WMA map.
Note: WMAs are intentionally wild, visitors will find natural landscapes rather than maintained trails.
Hunting & fishing opportunities
The WMA provides excellent food sources and cover for black bear, white-tailed deer, and wild turkey. The East Branch of the Westfield River, which is stocked with trout, runs through Cummington WMA along Route 9. For more information about trout stocking, go to mass.gov/trout.

The East Branch has several rare dragonflies, including the endangered harpoon clubtail (Gomphus descriptus).
