By The Numbers: Filing Season Facts to Date
As we begin to wrap up another income tax filing season, we’re looking at the numbers we’ve recorded so far. We’ve had just over 2.2 million returns come in and 1.4 million refunds go out the door, totaling more than $1.2 billion. The Contact Center has taken approximately 80,000 calls – up 10% from last year, but down in comparison to other years.
The April 19 Finish Line is Approaching
Just a few days left before personal income tax returns are due. Reminder that tax returns are considered timely if filed by April 19, 2022, for all Massachusetts taxpayers. For those who mail a return, a timely return is postmarked by April 19th. If you or your clients need an extension to file, a 6-month automatic extension could be available if payment requirements are met by April 19th. Those returns will be due October 17, 2022.

Form 1099-G and Unemployment Fraud FAQs Updated

Last Day to File Employee Sick Leave Claims
The last day for employers to file claims under the Employee Sick Leave program is April 29th. Any new or amended claims can’t be submitted after that date. Log on to MassTaxConnect to submit or amend your claims.
