Halfway Pond WMA

Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) are open to the public for fishing, hunting, trapping, hiking, and wildlife viewing.

Description

This management area consists of American beech, white pine, and some pitch pine. The property, which abuts a pond, also contains some active cranberry bogs.

Location, access, & parking

There is a parking area off of West Long Pond Road as well as an entrance across from Wildflower Lane on Halfway Pond Road. See WMA map.

Note: WMAs are intentionally wild, visitors will find natural landscapes rather than maintained trails.

Habitat Management

While there is no active habitat management on this WMA currently, there are adjacent Conservation Restrictions for the cranberry bogs.

Hunting & fishing opportunities

This WMA provides hunting opportunities for common upland game species such as white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and eastern coyote.

Halfway Pond is a warm water fishery consisting of largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and chain pickerel.
