Habitat management
Lackey Pond is managed as a shallow pond and wetland to optimize waterfowl breeding opportunities and migratory waterfowl habitat. Water levels are controlled to provide aquatic vegetation for waterfowl and associated wetlands wildlife.
Hunting & fishing opportunities
The WMA is an expansive wetland marsh area providing waterfowl hunting opportunities. The Mumford River provides fishing opportunities for stocked trout species and warm water species such as black crappie, sunfish, bullheads, chain pickerel, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and yellow perch. The water can be accessed by car-top boat or by fishing from shore in some locations. Go to mass.gov/trout for more information.
Wildlife viewing & other features
Viewing opportunities for waterfowl, wading birds, aquatic mammals, and other birds may all be enjoyed given the large wetland area of the WMA.
