Description
Meetinghouse Swamp WMA lies north of Route 44 and east of Plympton Street in Middleborough. This property is primarily forested by red maple, blueberry, sweet pepperbush and common greenbrier, however there are a few patches of uplands dominated by white pine and red oak. Several seasonal wetlands and vernal pools can be found scattered amongst this property.
Location, access, & parking
This property is difficult to access and there are no formal parking areas or road frontage. An old unimproved road leads into the northeast corner of the swamp but passes through private land. There is also a major electrical transmission line running through the northern third of the property. See WMA map.
Note: WMAs are intentionally wild, visitors will find natural landscapes rather than maintained trails.
Hunting opportunities
This property allows for the pursuit of white-tailed deer, eastern coyote, and raccoon but has limited access.
Wildlife viewing & other features
Due to limited access, this is not an ideal property to visit solely for the use of wildlife viewing though the habitat is ideal for several common species.
