Quacumquasit WMA

Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) are open to the public for fishing, hunting, trapping, hiking, and wildlife viewing.

Description

This property is comprised of abandoned apple trees, beaver impoundments, corn and agriculture fields, and wetland marshlands. It borders both Quacumquasit (South) Pond and Quaboag (North) Pond.

Location, access, & parking

Parking for this area is located on Lake Road and will accommodate 8 vehicles.  See WMA map.  

Note: WMAs are intentionally wild, visitors will find natural landscapes rather than maintained trails.

There is active agriculture in the fields and the WMA is also managed for open habitats.

Hunting & fishing opportunities

Active agricultural fields provide food for many game species and overgrown fields provide upland hunting opportunities. Beaver impoundments provide waterfowl hunting opportunities.

Quaboag Pond is home to warmwater species and is a popular destination for northern pike fishing. Quacumquasit Pond contains warmwater species and is stocked with trout. Note special regulations for Quacumquasit (South) Pond: total daily creel is 3 trout, but only 1 may be a brown trout and it must be at least 15 inches. Go to mass.gov/trout for more information.

This property borders Quaboag Pond and offers waterfowl viewing opportunities. Also, this property is frequently used by bald eagles.
