Description
Savoy WMA features rolling hilltops with gentle to moderate slopes ranging in elevation from 1,820 to 2,156 feet. The property consists primarily of mature oak and northern hardwood forests with white pine and hemlock stands scattered throughout. There are some small, elevated, mostly wooded wetlands within the property.
Location, access, & parking
Roadside parking and access is located along Harrington Road in Savoy, Cheshire Road and Savoy Road in Windsor, and Windsor Road in Cheshire. See WMA map.
Note: WMAs are intentionally wild, visitors will find natural landscapes rather than maintained trails.
Hunting opportunities
There are opportunities to pursue white-tailed deer, wild turkey, ruffed grouse, black bear, eastern coyote, snowshoe hare, gray and red fox, and woodcock at this WMA due, in part, to the large sections of forest which provide excellent food sources and cover for a variety of game species.
Fishing opportunities
The management area contains several sections of small headwater streams which are unlikely to provide any substantial fishing opportunities due to their size.
Wildlife viewing & other features
This area provides excellent wildlife viewing and outdoor recreation opportunities.
