Description
Wasque Point WMA lies on the island of Martha's Vineyard and is a long stretch of barrier beach that separates Pocha Pond from the Nantucket Sound on Chappaquiddick. The habitat consists of sparsely vegetated coastal beach and coastal dune. The area is managed for shore fishing access by the Division of Marine Fisheries. Through a cooperative agreement, the Trustees of Reservations manages access to the area for the agency.
Location, access, & parking
The Trustees of Reservations manages access to the site for the State. An access fee is required in addition to an oversand vehicle permit. See WMA map.
Note: WMAs are intentionally wild, visitors will find natural landscapes rather than maintained trails.
Fishing opportunities
Excellent saltwater shore fishing, primarily for striped bass and bluefish.
Wildlife viewing & other features
Excellent shorebird viewing opportunities in addition to other coastal bird and waterfowl species.
Regulations
Access is controlled and managed by the Trustees of Reservations. Fees and permits are required.
