Westfield WMA

Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) are open to the public for fishing, hunting, trapping, hiking, and wildlife viewing.

Description

This property consists of the northeast side of Drake Mountain in Westfield where it rises 735 feet to an elevation of 1,050 feet. The primary habitat type of this steep mountainous parcel is mature upland forest composed of central hardwoods and white pine.

Location, access, & parking

There is a two-vehicle gravel parking area along the west side of Honey Pot Road. Parking areas are not maintained in winter. See WMA map.

Note: WMAs are intentionally wild, visitors will find natural landscapes rather than maintained trails.

Habitat management

This property is not currently in active management but is reviewed annually regarding the need for forest cutting plans.

Hunting opportunities

This WMA provides hunting opportunities for mature forest species such as black bear, white-tailed deer, eastern coyote, and squirrel.
